The Scout year mostly follows the HISD school year, including major holidays and other breaks. Meetings start the last Monday in August through the Monday before Summer Camp, which is usually in June.Meetings are boy led with adult guidance. A topic is designated for each month and covered at the weekly meetings either through hands-on events or guest presentations. The Monday immediately following a campout is reserved for a Patrol Leader’s Council (PLC) meeting. PLC meetings are attended by the Patrol Leader of each patrol and the Troop leadership. At the PLC meeting the patrol leaders plan the next month’s activities.
